10th guitarists apply to be in The Smashing Pumpkins, auditions in Spring

Billy Corgan says The Smashing Pumpkins are still looking for a guitarist -- and he's working on another album.

Corgan wrote in his latest email to fans that "On the musical front we are still in search of a guitarist, and hope to hold auditions most likely in the spring." The band posted that they were searching for a new guitarist last month and revealed that they're gotten over 10,000 applications.

Corgan added in the email that "I’m hard at work currently on the new SP album, which is very guitar-oriented (translation: not a lot of synths lol) and has been fun to make for it brings back many great memories but also helps at times to illuminate new pathways; as my relationship with the guitar now goes back some 42 years." The last Pumpkins album was the triple album Atum that was released in three parts from fall 2022 to spring 2023.

Corgan also said that more material from the Pumpkins vaults is on the way. He adds, "I am working hard on new archival releases, one of which looks like it will be a vinyl collection in excess of 10 albums; maybe more. And not a synth in sight on those either."

In other Pumpkins news, the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex, have moved their March 12th L.A. show from the Roxy Theater to the considerably larger El Rey Theater.
