Drive In Theaters pop up across America during pandemic

While inside theaters have been shuttered for most of the past year because of COVID-19, drive-in theaters have experienced a comeback. It's much easier to social distance when you watch a movie from inside your own parked car. I loved going to the drive-in with my parents as a kid and I enjoyed it many years later with a date (who cared what films were featured!). While temporary drive-in theaters are once again popping up in a wide range of locations this year, it's tough to top Red Rocks as a setting. This year's Film on the Rocks: Drive-In series will start on May 26 with "Dirty Dancing" and the big screen will be set up in the lower South Lot 2 parking lot. Join me all this week after 1 for car passes to one of the features! Last year CBS Sunday Morning did a feature on the return of the drive-in movie theater. (photo: Getty Images)
